Board Books (Children's books)
These books have thick, hard covers and thick, hard text pages, and are normally printed in full color. The binding and pages are durable, hence their use for children's books. The text pages and cover are held together with glue at the spine. If the book has a high page count, the text pages and cover are often stitched and then glued at the spine.
Wire-O or Spiral-Bound Books (Cookbooks, journals or instructional books)
These books have a soft, card-stock cover. The covers are usually printed in full color with a laminate applied for durability. The text pages and cover are held together with exposed spiral wire or plastic binding. A concealed Wire-O bind features a binding that is covered (the spine has printing on it for viewing when on a shelf). This type of binding allows the pages to be laid perfectly flat. |
